Bear River Mobile Veterinary Service: 3 doctor practice in Grass Valley, CA, seeks associate for full or part time work. We are a mixed animal practice seeing about 50% equine, 35% ruminants/swine and 15% small animal. Our small animal work is mostly limited to foxtail removal, minor lacerations and in home euthanasias, so we are looking for someone with equine experience who is comfortable with food animals as well and willing to do some limited small animal work. We have 2 ultrasound machines (admittedly older, but functional), we use a local mobile radiology technician for all radiographs (so no in house radiology, but can usually get same day service if needed) and we have in house PCV and refractometer, but all other lab work is sent out to Idexx. The practice also employs 2 licensed RVT’s, 1-2 veterinary assistants and 1 office manager (and they are all awesome!). We are willing to work with new grads, or help out an associate who may be rusty in the food or small animal department. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, compassionate, enjoys working cooperatively and has good communication skills. We believe in working hard and playing hard, and appreciate the importance of work life balance. We are truly a no drama practice and believe in supporting and helping each other. On call is split evenly with 1 or 2 days a week on call and every third weekend on call. There are major referral centers available within an hour to 2 hours, as well. Currently associates have been paid 35% of total production with no base. This arrangement has worked out well in the past, but I am always open to new ways of doing things, and I am willing to negotiate on pay. Past and current employees have made between $40-70K a year depending on how many days a week they were working (2-4 days a week, plus above mentioned on call schedule). Some CE compensation offered and licensing fees covered. Your own fully stocked truck. Grass Valley is a beautiful rural community in the Sierra foothills with lots of out door recreation activity, but within easy driving distance of bigger cities (Approximately 1 hr from Sacramento).
