About us: Chimacum Valley Veterinary Hospital (CVVH) is a 5 DVM two-location practice that is independently-owned by two DVMs (Abbie Doll & Jeff Highbarger) who have worked together in a refreshingly-healthy way since 1998. In 2010, Abbie and Jeff left their AAHA practice in Florida to buy CVVH, and have since been cultivating their vision of vet med. Each employee of CVVH should strive to provide the highest quality of veterinary medicine possible, while also being committed to caring for the humans (including self) that we work with. In supporting an environment of excellent communication, respect, mindfulness, hard work, and humor, the owners understand that we are each responsible for co-creating a healthy and rewarding work environment. Every member of CVVH’s leadership team upholds themself to the same standards expected from everyone else on the team. CVVH is a certified Cat-Friendly Practice and we have a growing number of fear-free certified professionals and care in the process of becoming Fear-Free certified practice after having utilized these techniques for many years. The right vet for this job: You will be interested in practicing small animal general medicine +/- dentistry +/- surgery, with a passion and enthusiasm for your work. You must enjoy working with people. We want you to have a desire to continuously grow and learn throughout your career, including having the flexibility and openness to greet changes as the work and tools of the job evolve. We need you to be technology-friendly, and curious about learning new ways of doing things. You should be eager to practice the concepts of Fear-Free veterinary medicine. To thrive here you will share in our practice philosophy that we generally do best when we communicate well (and frequently) with each other. You should be able to extract warmth and support from being recognized and/or adored by your clients, even while out on a date or shopping in our friendly town. You should have an active interest in the health and growth of your team, and be open to sharing your enthusiasm, knowledge and problem-solving skills with the support staff. We want you to be interested and invested in taking the time to build long-term relationships with patients and clients. We also want to help you to take good care of your own emotional, physical and mental health. We hope to form a solid and trustworthy long-term relationship with you. We ultimately want you to enjoy working with us and our team. While we would prefer a veterinarian with experience in small animal medical practice, a new graduate applicants would be welcome and absolutely considered (we are experienced at mentorship and welcome the opportunity to provide that again).
