Hiring for an internship position at Conley and Koontz Equine Hospital. The internship is designed to offer new graduates a year of learning to balance medical case care and client interactions. This is a very hands on internship with independent case management. Our practice provides a good mixture of ambulatory medicine, hospital medicine, surgery, and emergency management. After a month of supervised training in the hospital and rotating between doctors, the intern is given primary emergency duty every other weekend and 2 days a week. The intern will then be allowed to have a more direct role in managing their cases. The intern acts as an assistant surgeon during surgical procedures, as well as providing assistance during intensive care cases. As the intern gains experience, the intern will provide ambulatory service for clients including routine health care, lameness exams, reproductive work, dentistry, medicine, wounds/lacerations, and colic workups. At the end of the year, the intern will have gained valuable experience with a diverse group of clients and a wide range of medical cases. Routine health maintenance, sports medicine, emergencies, and surgery will all be covered. Prior interns are willing to provide information regarding our internship position. At the end of the year, the internship may continue as an associate position.
