Looking for an exciting new position? Come join Amherst Animal Hospital (AAH), an independent and highly regarded small animal practice in Southern NH. Whether you are an experienced practitioner who is passionate about veterinary medicine and surgery and seeking to fully utilize your skills, or a new grad looking for a start in a small-town practice with eager, dedicated mentors in a patient-focused setting, we are looking for you!
We are fully staffed! Our team makes the day fly by with fun and cooperation. Our technicians are fantastic and so committed to providing a positive experience for every patient and client. Our receptionists are experts at helping clients in any way that they can. The hospital ward staff members are our eyes and ears for hospitalized pets, caring for them as they would their own animals. Our doctors are enthusiastic about working through challenging cases and sharing their knowledge with the clients and staff. Our comprehensive caseload allows our doctors to refine their skills in medicine and surgery – we are always learning from each other, from researching cases, and from the specialists who frequent our practice. Mentoring is always available for surgical and medical techniques and for developing diagnostic and treatment plans.
AAH has been serving clients and their beloved pets for over 40 years. Every dog and cat is treated as an individual – all medical care is tailored to the specific case – including preventative care, medical therapies, and anesthetic and surgical procedures. All staff members uphold our very high standards of care and professional responsibility.
Job responsibilities include:
Out-patient appointments for wellness visits and medical problems.
Development of individualized treatment plan for each patient including vaccinations, diet recommendations, parasite prevention, medical treatments and testing, dermatology evaluations, chronic disease management, and surgical interventions.
With appropriate training and experience, doctors are scheduled to perform routine procedures such as spays, neuters, dentals and lump removals one day weekly. More complex surgical procedures may be scheduled dependent on level of skill and experience.
Our doctors collaborate daily about all aspects of patient treatment and testing, including radiograph review, interpretation of blood work and other testing, advising when to refer, utilizing newer therapies, surgical approaches to unusual procedures, in-house cytology, urinalyses, and dermatologic cases. We also benefit from weekly in-house consultations from a mobile internist and a cardiologist.
We provide competitive pay and remarkable benefits including:

The Amherst Animal Hospital is located in beautiful southern New Hampshire. We have been a successful small animal hospital for over 40 years and have maintained a respected reputation in our community by providing exceptional care for our patients. Many of our clients have been with us over 30 years and we have had the opportunity to provide healthcare for the lifetime of their pets.
Amherst Animal Hospital provides modern medical care while upholding traditional values. We are independently owned and the decisions regarding the practice, medications, equipment and protocols are thoroughly assessed before implementation. Our doctors and staff play an important role in the decision-making process. Our facility is free standing and has 5 examination rooms, 2 surgical suites, diagnostic ultrasound, DR digital radiography and in-house blood analyzers. We have 10 separate hospital wards allowing isolation for all potentially infectious patients. A full-time ward staff cares for hospitalized patients and there is a treatment technician living in an apartment above the hospital. We do offer boarding for pets needing extra care, including diabetics, those with renal failure and e...lderly animals.
All of our doctors perform surgery and see outpatient appointments. We have a knowledgeable and energetic staff of certified veterinary technicians, assistants and receptionists. We regularly provide externships for veterinary students and veterinary technician students and we employ several high school students wishing to gain experience in the veterinary field.
